Join us for a fast-paced, hands-on Youth iPad Video Production Bootcamp where students will learn to plan, shoot, and edit their very own video projects—all on an iPad! No prior experience needed—just a curiosity for storytelling and a willingness to dive in.

In this 3-day creative crash course, students will work in small teams to create Public Service Announcements (PSAs) in collaboration with local nonprofits. Using iPads provided by Hōʻike, they’ll learn real-world production skills including:

• 🎥 Shot composition & camera movement

• 🗣️ Interviewing & audio recording

• ✂️ Editing basics & storytelling techniques

• 🎙️ Media messaging for community impact

The camp wraps up with a special parent screening where students will premiere their original work on the big screen!

From Superheroes to Simba: HCT Fall Classes | THW Community Connections 08.29.2025

In this Community Connections spotlight, Hawai‘i Children’s Theatre gears up for fall with three vibrant programs for keiki of all ages. From the whimsical world of Little Stars, Big Imaginations, to action-packed superhero training and stage combat, to a fall break bootcamp that crescendos in a live performance of The Lion King Kids—HCT proves that theatre is for every child, big or small.

🎭 Classes run September through November, with performances at the Puhi Theatrical Warehouse.

CREATE Hawaiʻi: Designing Pathways for Future Storytellers

ʻEwalu Industries, in partnership with Nā Leo TV, Kealakehe High School, Hawaiʻi Community College, Hawaiʻi Technology Academy Kauaʻi, and Hōʻike Kauaʻi Community Media, has been awarded a HYAN Design Sprint Award from the Harold K.L. Castle Foundation. This funding supports the collaborative planning of CREATE Hawaiʻi (Creative Routes Empowering Apprentices Toward Employment) — a youth apprenticeship initiative in development to prepare students for careers in digital media, storytelling, marketing, and design.

Through the design sprint, partners will build a work plan, engage in peer-to-peer learning, and shape the systems needed to launch this innovative program.
