2025 Kauaʻi Veterans Ceremony at Hale Līhuʻe | Full Event Coverage

Hōʻike is honored to share this year’s Kauaʻi Veterans Ceremony from Hale Līhuʻe in Downtown Līhuʻe—an event where our island community gathered with gratitude to uplift the stories, service, and sacrifice of Kauaʻi’s veterans.

This annual ceremony serves as a heartfelt reminder of the courage and commitment shown by all who have served, with special recognition this year for those who served during the 20-year War on Terror. Through shared stories, reflection, and community connection, the event highlighted the values that continue to shape life on Kauaʻi.

2025 Kauaʻi Veterans Celebration | Kress Street Market & Concert

Hōʻike is proud to share the 2025 Kauaʻi Veterans Celebration, filmed on Kress Street in the heart of Downtown Līhuʻe. This vibrant community gathering brought together families, friends, and neighbors to honor the service and sacrifice of Kauaʻi’s veterans through music, food, and shared connection.

The celebration created a welcoming space for our island to show appreciation for veterans and their ʻohana—highlighting their strength, resilience, and the many ways they enrich our community.

Kauaʻi Mental Health Conference – Full Playlist Now Available

Hōʻike Community Media has released the full YouTube playlist from the Kauaʻi Mental Health Conference, featuring a series of presentations focused on trauma, resilience, and community well-being.

Part 1: Opening & Keynote
Mayor Derek Kawakami and Dr. Kaleka (HHSC) address the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the importance of trauma-informed care.

Part 2: Babies Remember Trauma
Erica Warner, LCSW explains how early experiences shape infant development and introduces benevolent childhood experiences (BCEs).

Part 3 & 4: Building Resilience Through HOPE
Johanna Nielsen (Family Hui Hawaiʻi) presents the HOPE framework and the four building blocks of positive childhood experiences. She also shares the Hawaiian “Bowl of Light” story.

Part 5: Rural Health & Community Connection
The Hawaiʻi Rural Health Association highlights partnerships, telehealth access, and ways rural communities can strengthen health outcomes.

Part 6: Social Justice & Healing
Francie Dávila explores how identity, systems, and lived experience intersect with mental health, emphasizing community care and collective healing.

In this Community Connections spotlight, the Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC) gears up for the winter season with a wide range of resource navigation and support programs for Kaua‘i’s kupuna, caregivers, and families.

From helping seniors access transportation and meal services, to providing referrals to trusted community partners, to acting as a one-stop information hub for anyone 60+, ADRC proves that empowering kupuna begins with connection, compassion, and clear pathways to care.
