Hōʻike’s first-ever Youth iPad Video Production Bootcamp wrapped up in style last week with a special visit from Mayor Derek Kawakami and representatives from Spectrum! 🌺 Over the three-day camp, middle and high school students learned to plan, film, and edit their own Public Service Announcements (PSAs) — all using iPads provided by Hōʻike. From storyboarding to shooting to final edits, the students took full creative control, learning real-world media production skills while collaborating with local nonprofit partners. During the final showcase, families, the Mayor, and Spectrum team members gathered at Hōʻike’s studios to watch the students’ finished PSAs on the big screen. The energy in the room was incredible — everyone was impressed by the creativity, teamwork, and professionalism these young filmmakers brought to their projects. 🎥✨ This pilot program marks an exciting step in Hōʻike’s mission to empower Kauaʻi’s youth through hands-on media education.
