As we ring in a new year, we’re grateful for everyone who helps make Hōʻike Kauaʻi Community Media possible. A new year brings new stories, new opportunities, and yes, new financial challenges.

The good news is there are many ways to support Hōʻike.

Introducing Aloha Slippahs

We’re excited to introduce Aloha Slippahs, a joyful new creative program for keiki hosted by local artist Leonora Orr. Designed to uplift kids and families, the program blends art, movement, mindfulness, storytelling, and emotional expression into a playful, supportive space for creativity and connection.

Open to children ages 6–14, Aloha Slippahs offers monthly classes on Thursdays from 4:00–6:00 PM. Families are welcome to try a class without committing to the full series.

Our first class launches January 22 at 4:00 PM, and this program is offered free to participating families. Classes will be filmed to air on Hō‘ike as part of the Aloha Slippahs show.

Calling Guest Teachers

We’re also inviting artists, dancers, movement facilitators, and mindfulness practitioners to join us as guest teachers. If your work supports creativity, embodiment, or emotional awareness, we’d love to connect. A short teaser trailer is now available, offering a glimpse into the show’s playful, thoughtful tone.

🌊 Hōʻike 2025: A Year of Growth, Stories, and Community

As we say goodbye to 2025 and step into 2026 🎉, we’re taking a moment to reflect on what we accomplished together 🌊

Last year was full of connection and creativity 🎬✨ We produced dozens of episodes spotlighting local voices 🎙️, livestreamed County Council meetings to keep our community informed 🏛️, and expanded our Community Connections programming 🤝 Hundreds of new followers joined us 📈, and we welcomed more keiki and teens into youth media classes 👧🏽🧒🏽, helping them become confident storytellers and certified producers 🎥

We tried new things, too 🚀 From new hosts and crossover productions to redesigned sets, upgraded lighting 💡, and innovative approaches to livestreaming, our team kept pushing what community media can be on Kauaʻi 🌺 We hosted hands-on workshops 🛠️, partnered with schools and organizations 🏫, and celebrated moments that reminded us why this work matters ❤️

Looking ahead to 2026, we’re excited to keep the momentum going ✨ You can expect new episodes of your favorite shows 📺, more classes and certifications 🎓, deeper community partnerships 🤗, and even more opportunities for local voices to be seen and heard 🌈
